SOLO RETREATS

A Place That Holds You

There is a quiet here. A stillness that meets you the moment you arrive. A space where the outside world softens, and all that is left is freedom - freedom to rest, to reflect, to simply be.

A Solo Retreat of Deep Care and Spaciousness

The whole of you is welcome here

Bach Brook is more than a place to retreat - it is a place that holds you. Whether you come seeking rest, clarity, or creative flow, this space is shaped around what you need.

Everything is taken care of. Your meals are prepared, your surroundings are peaceful, and you are gently held - not in a way that demands anything of you, but in a way that allows you to soften into yourself.

There is no schedule. No expectations. Just freedom, space, and quiet.

Some come here to rest, to reconnect, to sit under the sky and let the land settle something inside them. Others come with a question, a thread of thought to follow, a creative energy to nourish, or words waiting to be written.

And for those who would like to travel deeper, supportive guidance is here too.

This is a very special place created and held by two very special people. Henny and Anton - thank you! Thank you for sharing this space, thank you for your unwavering generosity; thank you for introducing me to heavenly nourishing vegetarian food. And thank you for introducing me to the exquisite cacao ceremony. Today I feel truly blessed and ever so grateful for taking the time out to REST here. Today feels like a springboard for change... and self-care.

A Solo Retreat Shaped Around You

At Bach Brook, there is no 'right' way to retreat - only what feels right for you.

The foundation of every retreat includes:

  • Three nights, four days, in your private retreat space, immersed in nature
  • Nourishing homemade meals, prepared and brought to you
  • Deep quiet and uninterrupted time, free from distractions
  • Subtle energetic support, nothing intrusive, just a space that quietly holds you
  • A place of no-requirements, where you are fully cared for without expectation

For some, this is all they need. A place to exhale, rest, and reset.

For others, something more might be calling - a chance to go deeper, reflect, or create. You can shape your retreat in a way that feels right for you by adding any of the following:

  • Therapeutic coaching - A space to gently untangle what is present for you
  • A cacao ceremony - A heart-opening ritual for clarity and connection
  • Morning meditation or guided walks - Grounding practices to settle into the land
  • Personalised journaling prompts - Gentle guidance for deeper reflection

To apply and create your own unique retreat, book in for a virtual coffee with Henny and talk through what you sense you need. We'll shape everything around you.

Your Private Retreat Could Look Like This...

What you'll find here

Your retreat space is private, peaceful, and designed to be a sanctuary. It has everything you need - comfort, warmth, and a quiet simplicity that allows you to fully relax.

Linen sheets, cosy throws, organic bathroom products in your ensuite shower room, and your own private deck. You’ll also have access to the surrounding land, with space to walk, sit, and let nature hold you. In warmer months, you can try the outdoor shower - or sit by the firebowl on the deck when the nights are cooler.

All meals are homemade, nourishing, and designed to support deep rest and creativity. Everything is vegetarian, gluten-free, and free from refined sugar and cow dairy, though we do use eggs and sheep/goat cheese. Whenever possible, we use fruits and vegetables from our own land, bringing a sense of connection to the food you eat here.

Your meals are prepared and brought to you, so you can eat whenever feels right. There are also drinks and snacks in your retreat space - plenty to keep you replenished throughout your stay. Before you arrive, we’ll check in with you about any food preferences or needs, and you’re always welcome to request a sample menu.

On arrival, as I settled in at this most inspiring and beautiful of locations, I began to realise this moment was what I made it and to trust myself to just go with it. Henny is the most amazing person. Inspiring me to reflect on life's experiences in a way no coach has ever done. She really understood me as a person and helped draw out the most incredible insights about who I really am. With Anton's incredible building work, gardening skills and food, they have built an environment to feed not only the person but your soul too. I am incredibly grateful for the experience here, for what it has given me in the moment, and for what is to come.

This Land

Bach Brook Farm is a place that’s hard to describe. Set deep in the Marches, in Herefordshire, this valley is something you feel.

Three acres of meadow, edged by a little brook, tucked in a valley on the England-Wales border. Surrounded by an amphitheatre of trees, including a stretch of ancient woodland that has stood here for at least 400 years - just as long as the house itself.

Before we arrived, this land was farmed. Now, we are gently returning it to its natural state. The real inhabitants are the wild pheasants, rabbits and hedgehogs. And, of course, our dog, Ronnie, who will likely want to say hello.

Each guest experiences the land in their own way. The woman who slept in a hammock and watched hedgehogs greet each other at dawn. The guest who was surrounded by butterflies just as she was discovering her own transformation.

If you love wild swimming, the river is near. If you love long walks, the hills are close. If you love deep stillness, the roads are far. And if your inner child loves to play, there is even a swing.

If you're planning a longer stay in the area, Ludlow with its beautiful castle and Leominster, famed for its antiques, are nearby. And Hay-on-Wye's book shops, the Welsh hills and Brecon Beacons are all within easy driving distance.

Whatever the weather - wet, wild, or warm, sometimes all three in one day - there is beauty everywhere.

Bring wellies (whatever the season) and the comfiest clothes you own, and let the land take care of the rest.

Listening to the birds each morning. Seeing the hedgehogs(!) and knowing there was nothing I had to do. It's honestly priceless. This place really is magical. I didn't quite know what I was coming to, but I'm so glad I did!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add coaching or other experiences to my retreat?

Yes. For those who feel called to explore something deeper, there are optional ways to go further, including:

  • Therapeutic coaching (for more info on working with Henny, see here)
  • Cacao ceremony with LoveWords reading
  • Morning meditations / Yoga Nidra
  • Personalised daily Flow Journaling prompts
  • Guided walks / wild swimming
  • Personalised PT session / guided bike ride with Anton

We can explore the balance of what might most support you when we plan your retreat.

There's also the option of sessions before and after your visit here, where your retreat can form part of a coaching programme. Just message Henny or book in for a discovery call if you'd like to explore this further.

Will I have a structured programme?

Only if you want one. This retreat is shaped entirely around what you need. You are free to rest, reflect, or create at your own pace. If you’d like guidance or structure, I can offer gentle support, but nothing is ever required.

How do I know if this is the right retreat for me?

If you feel drawn to the idea of quiet, uninterrupted space - whether for rest, reflection, or writing - this retreat is for you. You don’t have to be writing a book, or have something “big” to work through. You just have to want space. And if you’d like guidance, it’s here.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for anyone who feels drawn to stillness. You might be longing for deep rest, seeking time to reflect, or wanting space to create your own writing retreat. You might not even know exactly why you feel called here - only that you do.

Some guests come simply to breathe again. Others come with a question, a creative project, or a shift happening inside them. Whatever brings you here, this space is designed to meet you where you are.

Who hosts this retreat?

When you visit Bach Brook Farm, you'll be visiting our home - though your solo retreat space is completely private. Anton and I met at university, have a son and a dog, Ronnie, and we have both been through our own transformative life experiences - recognising that this journey is ongoing. Whether you come here to rest, to reflect or to write, we will meet you exactly where you are.

If I am writing, what kind of support is available?

The retreat is designed to give you uninterrupted time to write, free from distraction. If you ever feel stuck, I’m here - whether that’s for a reflective conversation, a gentle way to untangle thoughts, or simply a moment of encouragement. But mostly, this is a space where you can let your words breathe, safe in the knowledge that everything is being cared for.

Can I come with a partner or friend?

Bach Brook is designed as a solo retreat, offering deep personal space and care. However, if you would like to come with a partner or friend, that is absolutely possible. The retreat house has a spacious double bed, making it comfortable for two. The most important thing is that both of you feel supported in getting what you most need from your time here.

You may each have different intentions - one of you might want deep rest, while the other is drawn to guided bike rides with Anton or reflective coaching with Henny. That balance is entirely welcome, as long as you’re both happy to honour each other’s needs alongside your own. If you’re considering coming together, let’s chat first to ensure your retreat is shaped in the best way for both of you.

How long do I need to stay?

The retreat is for three nights, Tuesday to Friday, which allows you to settle in and gives you the chance to plan a restful weekend before returning fully to the outer world. On occasion guests can arrange to stay a little less time or a little longer, to really drop into the deep stillness that unfolds here. If you’re unsure how long would be right for you, feel free to get in touch.

How do I get to Bach Brook?

Bach Brook is nestled on the England-Wales border, in a peaceful, rural location.

  • By car - We’ll send you clear directions, and there’s parking available on-site.
  • By train - The nearest train stations are Leominster, Ludlow and Hereford, we can collect you and take you back to the station if needed.
  • By air - If you’re traveling from further afield, the nearest airports are London, Birmingham or Bristol, with train connections available.

Please note, we are fairly remote, so if you need any help planning your journey, just let us know - we’re happy to guide you through the best options.

Will I have Wi-Fi and phone signal?

Bach Brook has Wi-Fi, so you’ll be able to connect online if needed. However, phone reception is patchy, which makes this a wonderful place for a digital detox.

Many guests choose to step away from screens during their stay, allowing themselves to fully sink into rest, reflection, or creativity without distractions. If you need to stay connected, you can share our details with loved ones and they can contact us if needed. If going offline feels like a challenge, this might be the perfect opportunity to embrace the stillness and see what unfolds.

How do I book?

If this retreat speaks to you, simply apply today to book in for a call. We can have a chat so I can hear some of what’s calling you here, and we’ll find the right dates for your stay - you can also ask any questions you may have. This is an open conversation for us each to feel into whether this is the right retreat space that will best serve you right now.

We believe this kind of retreat should be accessible. If the cost feels like a stretch, we offer a few ‘pay as you can’ places each year - just get in touch and we can talk it through.

Plan Your Retreat With Henny

I have loved spending time in the retreat and amongst nature. I leave with lots to reflect on. I feel challenged and now have a real sense of ownership for my next chapter. Henny has such a wonderful way of leading you on a curious and sometimes difficult path to discover new ways and new choices. Thank you for the wonderful food, fires and warmth.

Lindsay, UK - a much needed time of deep rest and powerful reflection to balance the needs of this busy CEO

I will never have the words to express my gratitude for this experience. I feel emotional even reflecting on my time here. So much to say and equally nothing at all to say. The place of no requirements is a space that I will carry in my heart with such deep, deep love. The lessons, the remembering, the birdsong, the trees, the FOOD! The letting go, the being nurtured, the calm, the joy, the pain. The lessons. So much can be felt when nothing is required of you. I know you know this already but you are both individually and collectively on the path you are meant to be on. Just thank you for it all. I leave blessing this space for the next person really to embrace their internal magic. Until next time.
